WHY DO I COLLECT?

Why do I collect? That's easy... because it's so much fun! Ever since I can remember I have been going to flea markets, antique shops, yard sales, you name it. Wherever I could find some sort of interesting treasure or cool piece of junk! I love driving around in search of new places or revisiting my favorite spots. I come from a family of collectors and have lived amongst antiques and collectibles my whole life. I have a passion for decorating especially with things that I find in my travels or even things found in the trash... which by the way can be some of the best stuff! But for those who share the same passion, I don't have to tell you... you all know what fun it is and how addicting it can be! Here I will share my collections, interesting finds, decorating tips, photos, projects, friends collections and thoughts and whatever else I may find along the way.

GUEST COLLECTOR

I was just looking at my list of blog followers and noticed some new names there! I love that! It’s so cool to know that people are reading and looking at my blog! I came across a new friend yesterday… Carole from Australia! I have noticed that a lot of people that view my blog are from Australia and that we have similar interests and collections. So, here is CAROLE and her beautiful vintage tea towel collection!

I love how she photographed these out doors
hanging on a clothesline. So pretty!

Carole is originally from England and migrated to Australia in the mid 60’s with her family. Her father’s family had an antique shop in Denmark and her father, in London, dealt in second hand furniture and bric-a-brac.  He would send items back to Denmark to sell in the shop. Her mother is Mauritian (French), and she loves to display pretty things so it was just inevitable that Carole shares the same passion… it’s in her blood… she’s a collector!  When she originally started collecting and decorating her home it was out of necessity really, because they couldn’t afford much, so the easiest way to decorate on a budget was to buy things second hand. She had a $5.00 maximum budget on any one item… “oh the things that slipped through my fingers that only cost $6.00…never mind!”  She loves Art Deco, 1950’s and Retro.  “I just love being surrounded by nice things, they make me smile and if I can get them for only a few dollars, the bigger the smile.” thanks so much Carole!!
