WHY DO I COLLECT?

Why do I collect? That's easy... because it's so much fun! Ever since I can remember I have been going to flea markets, antique shops, yard sales, you name it. Wherever I could find some sort of interesting treasure or cool piece of junk! I love driving around in search of new places or revisiting my favorite spots. I come from a family of collectors and have lived amongst antiques and collectibles my whole life. I have a passion for decorating especially with things that I find in my travels or even things found in the trash... which by the way can be some of the best stuff! But for those who share the same passion, I don't have to tell you... you all know what fun it is and how addicting it can be! Here I will share my collections, interesting finds, decorating tips, photos, projects, friends collections and thoughts and whatever else I may find along the way.

CERAMIC ROOSTERS


More fun! These colorful, vintage, ceramic roosters are also part of my kitchen collectibles. It was not my intention to start a collection of these! I picked up a cute one for 10 cents at a weekend flea market on 9th avenue when I was still living in NYC... need I say more! Shown here just a few highlights!

    I also collect chickens and roosters. I have a sign in my kitchen, "Scott's Chicken Coop."

    I picked one up at a antique store this weekend. How do I tell where it's from and what it's worth? Any help would be appreciated. :)

      Hi Matthew! It will depend on whether it's marked on the bottom or not. Most of mine are either marked Japan or unmarked as I am not really concerned with the value of this collection. I just like the way they look! :-) I do find a lot of roosters and chickens that are marked Royal Copley which I'm sure has some value... and also it will depend on the condition. If they are marked Germany, England or some sort of fine china or porcelain marking then they will have more value than if they are marked Japan. If they are marked Occupied Japan, that is better than if it's marked just Japan. Sorry I don't have more info on these... hope this helps though! Thanks for looking at my blog!
