These wicker and wood with tin inserts and metal baskets were used by florists for floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, etc. I was lucky to come across about 10 at once at a flea market a few years ago. The dealer seemed anxious to get rid of them and let me have them all for $3.oo!! What a deal. I have seen the larger ones at antique shops and shows for up to $75.00. So I was happy to add the 10 to my others.

My aunt owned a florist shop back in the 1940's in Memphis,TN. We found a lot of these baskets in her house after we started to renovate. Some of them had glass inserts- I thought that was pretty unusal. They were all in pretty good condition. I'd love for someone who appreciates these things to have them-how would I go about putting a price on these baskets-any advice?
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! It's great that you came across these baskets in your aunts house! As far as putting a price on them... well, I've seen them for all different prices at different venues. At antique shows they can be quite expensive... I've seen them ranging from $25 to $75. At flea markets they can be pretty inexpensive. I got most of mine at flea markets... a few at yard sales and some at a thrift shop. I have paid anywhere from 50 cents to $5 for the ones in my collection. You can look on Ebay too and view completed items... that will give you an idea of what collectors will pay. Hope this info helps! Thanks again for viewing my blog! Best regards, Emily
